And Now A Message From Our Sponsor

Rick Sanchez

Disclaimer:
It is nothing new to learn that I have serious and considerable criticisms regarding 24-hour news. However, the following message is not related to the political/social agenda of a particular network and/or their psychosocial effect/affect on society per se. Instead it is about a specific personality and while I understand and agree that the current strain and overall majority of cable "news" personalities--those who present "the news" throughout various networks--are generally problematic and troubling as a whole, for some reason in the wake of the current catastrophe in Haiti, this particular individual's need to punctuate horrific imagery through gratuitous commentary (as if such imagery cannot speak for itself) really stood out and rubbed me the wrong way.

And so, take note of the photo above:

News flash: You're neither a journalist, a news anchor nor a correspondent. You Sir, are a sensationalistic putz; a transparent talking head whose insincerity for truth is surpassed only by your insincerity for humanity and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well said! Sanchez is a grade-A putz who should be relegated to reading the tabloid updates about what flavor of bubble gum got stuck on Paris Hilton's flip flops, instead of being the "face and voice" for the important goings-on around the world.

I think your comment can be applied with a broad brush to the entire CNN network. Any news organization who would make a deal with a dictator (Saddam Hussein) to get access to his country for reporters, in exchange for favorable news coverage, is no longer a news organization, but a propaganda outlet.

And Anderson Cooper is a whiny little baby. Boo hoo.

I like the way you changed the font for the disclaimer. That it was a continuous sentence is impressive.

That anyone appears to still watch CNN is a revelation that leaves me too shocked to comment on, however.

I'm glad I don't watch much TV so I didn't have to see it!

And I agree about Anderson Cooper being whiny...

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for all of your advice! It's greatly appreciated! :)

Always nice to see you in my little parlor, Jenji... thank you for visiting!

Okay, I need to point out that you don't post nearly enough. ;-) Inquiring minds want to know what you're thinking about, even if you're not thinking of anything.

Marvin:
You must have read my rant about weather.

I wish I could organize my thoughts better to post right now, but alas, I'm at a loss for words, even as they race through my head.

As always, I appreciate the suggestion to post something. Anything.

Hopefully this mood will soon pass and I'll be ready to go.

best,
jenji

CNN is (presumably) bad enough in North America, but CNN international is quite another story altogether. CNNj (CNN Japan) is basically one giant, 24-hour advert for Twitter, and it's disturbing how often the anchors make references to Twitter comments. What's with the love-fest?!
